About Energy Referral & how we work

Energy Referral is an independent guide to switching energy to Octopus and claiming the £50 refer-a-friend credit. We’re Octopus customers, not Octopus staff.

Our methodology

We test the referral link ourselves and re-verify it on the 1st of every month, date-stamping every page so you can see how fresh it is. We never publish a bonus figure we haven’t checked against Octopus’s own pages, and we keep pricing claims evergreen because rates change with the Ofgem cap.

How we make money

When you switch using our referral link, Octopus credits both of us with £50. That’s the entire business model — and crucially, you get exactly the same £50 you’d get from any other working code. There’s no markup, no fee, and no catch.
